In addition to the work Harrigan Sanitation Solutions performs for its food manufacturing partners, the company also works with community organizations to support causes that matter.
Harrigan Sanitation Solutions had its first annual Harrigan for Wishes Golf Outing last May to raise money for Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, an organization with a personal connection to Harrigan’s VP & Managing Partner Dave Stern, whose family was greatly impacted by the work of this foundation.
“My daughter Olivia was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in January of 2014 and with lots of support from many family members, friends, medical support, and 2 ½ years of treatments, Olivia is now doing fantastic 10 years later,” Dave said.
A highlight of this journey was the Wish she received from Make-a-Wish Wisconsin to go to New York Fashion Week.
“Spending a week attending fashion shows, meeting designers, and seeing the runway behind the scenes during my Wish is what confirmed my decision to live out my dream of going to college in New York City,” Olivia shared. “I ended up attending Fordham University just blocks away from the very fashion shows we attended back in 2015.”
After a successful fundraiser in 2024 that raised nearly $30,000, Harrigan and its event partners were able to grant four Wishes to kids with life-threatening diseases.
● Gavin, a nine-year-old with a critical nervous system disorder that causes developmental delays, was able to have a SleepSafe bed for his sensory room.
● Hayden, a 17-year-old diagnosed with lymphoma, wished to have a basement makeover to play his video games, watch sports, and spend time with family.
● Truman, an eight-year-old diagnosed with leukemia, wished to meet Mark Rober, an engineer and YouTube personality. His family traveled to California to meet Mark, try a few experiments together, and explore the coast of California.
● William, a nine-year-old who underwent a kidney transplant, wished to meet Lionel Messi. Make-A-Wish flew him and his family to Miami for a week to meet the legendary soccer player and explore the city.
This year’s Harrigan for Wishes Golf outing will take place May 19 at The Bull at Pinehurst Farms in Sheboygan Falls. Registration will include golf, lunch, dinner & auction, with all proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish Wisconsin. More details are coming soon, but in the meantime, reach out to Dave at 262-389-6851 or dstern@harrigansolutions.com for sponsorship or participant information. Help us grant even more Wishes this year!
