Tailored to Your Food Plant: Custom Sanitation Programs That Reduce Risk and Power Profit

July 29, 2026

For more than 40 years, Harrigan Sanitation Solutions has been built on a simple but powerful belief: when people are developed intentionally, exceptional results follow. Today, we are excited to share news about the next chapter in our company’s story.

Founder and CEO Bill Harrigan has sold Harrigan Sanitation Solutions to now-President Dave Stern, who has worked closely with Bill for more than 20 years and has helped build the company into one of the most respected food manufacturing facility sanitation companies in the Midwest.

Stern, who most recently served as VP and Managing Partner of Harrigan Sanitation Solutions, has been joined in ownership by four other local partners who share a deep commitment to the company’s mission, values, and future growth.

Meet the Ownership Team

Dave Stern: Dave helped grow Harrigan Sanitation Solutions and shape the people-first culture that defines it today. As President, he will continue to lead the company’s day-to-day operations.

John Dunfee: A CPA by trade, John is a lifelong resident of Cedarburg, where he and his wife of 40 years raised four children, all of whom still live in the area. Together with fellow partner Randy Groth, John owns a variety of other businesses.

Randy Groth: Randy is a business partner of John Dunfee, and together they own a diverse portfolio of companies–from The Bull at Pinehurst Farms Golf Course to heavy equipment dealerships, wastewater haulers, and agricultural commodities trading.

Gerry Schwarz: Gerry is President and CEO of Port Washington-based Kickhaefer Manufacturing Company. He is an investor/advisor to several businesses across multiple industries. He was also Managing Director of Wing Capital Group which invested in and managed various middle market companies.

John Tokarz: John is a shareholder in the corporate department of Milwaukee-based law firm Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c., where he advises closely held businesses, private equity sponsors, and similar investor groups on middle-market M&A deals and other general corporate matters.

Our Commitment to Our People and Partners

While the ownership structure has changed, what makes Harrigan Sanitation Solutions special has not. Our commitment to employees and customers and our vision, purpose, systems, and people-first culture remains the same. We provide Trustworthy Teams, helping our food manufacturer partners reduce risk and power profit.

For our employees, customers, and business partners, there will be very little change in day-to-day operations. This succession plan provides long-term stability and positions Harrigan Sanitation Solutions for continued success well into the future.

As part of the succession process, Bill will serve as Founder Emeritus. Look for more on Bill’s plans in an upcoming blog.

Thank you for your continued trust, support, and partnership as we begin this exciting new chapter together. If you have any questions, concerns, or would simply like to learn more, please reach out to:
